Disney face masks exist and you can pre-order them now
Disney-licensed face masks designed to keep you safe during a global pandemic sounds like something out of a particularly dark Clickhole headline, but here we are. It's May 2020 and they exist. You can pre-order them, just like a video game or Baby Yoda doll, in four-packs for $19.99.
Right now the masks come in six designs: Star Wars with R2D2 and Baby Yoda (small, medium, large), Minnie and Mickey Mouse, (small, medium, large), Disney Princess (small, medium, large), Mickey, Pooh Stitch and Marie (small, medium, large), Pixar (small, medium, large) and, of course, Marvel -- including Hulk's grinning face (small, medium, large).
We already reported on other fashionable face masks, pointing out how strange that concept would've seemed just a few months ago and, hopefully, how strange it'll seem in the future, but nothing on that list is as astounding a snapshot of the current zeitgeist than a Mickey Mouse-themed surgical face mask.
That said, while I'm no particular fan of Disney (why do they own everything?), this is objectively a good and responsible thing for them to be doing. We need to destigmatize mask-wearing as much as possible, because we all need to be wearing masks. And kids (not to mention quite a few adults) are definitely more likely to put on a mask if it has characters they recognize on it. So... good.
With any luck, these'll be quite the collector's item one day. For several reasons.
